What is READ 365?
READ 365 is a commitment to make reading habitual. Commit to read as much as you can with me this year. Don't limit yourself to what is assigned by your instructors. Read for pleasure. Read to satisfy curiosity. I will teach you and talk with you under the assumption that you are actively reading on your own in addition to what is assigned in class. Be ready for casual conversations about what you are reading outside of class and be ready to give recommendations to me and your peers.

“What a miracle it is that out of these small, flat, rigid squares of paper unfolds world after world after world, worlds that sing to you, comfort and quiet or excite you. Books help us understand who we are and how we are to behave. They show us what community and friendship mean; they show us how to live and die.” — Anne Lamott
“We read to know that we are not alone.” |
“Never trust anyone who has not brought a book with them.” |
“I cannot remember the books I’ve read any more than the meals I have eaten; even so, they have made me.” |
“Picking five favorite books is like picking the five body parts you’d most like not to lose.” |
